THE ARTISTS Jim Robison Resident Studio Artist & Potter Chris Jenkins (Historic work, Part 2) Potter

THE EXHIBITION

Jim Robison Ceramics is winner of the 2023 Artweek’s Naylor Ceramic Prize. Work is largely hand built from slabs of clay. Responding to the local colours and textures of Yorkshire. Painted with colourful slips and glazes or textured from the local dry stone walls, pieces are both decorative and functional.

Chris Jenkins ceramics have usually been thrown on the potter’s wheel. Using subtle but dramatic forms of geometric patterns. Designs are created with careful drawing and precise carving into slips. These are then covered with multiple thicknesses of glaze to develop tonal variations in the work.

Chris has sadly passed away and following on from last year, this is a select group of work from his family’s collection.
